West Bridgewater School Committee Approves Paid Senior Internship Pilot for Fall

WEST BRIDGEWATER — June 12, 2025 — West Bridgewater School Committee approves a paid senior internship pilot capped at five students. The committee voted unanimously at its June 12 meeting to launch the program, developed by Assistant Principal Hanna, which will place rising seniors at local businesses in skilled trades and other fields during the school day while earning academic credit and pay. Final approval is contingent on remaining feedback from the district's insurance carrier, with any outstanding revisions due before the August 18 meeting. The committee also rated Superintendent James Bodwell proficient in his 2024-2025 annual evaluation on a 3-0 vote with two abstentions, citing strengths in the MSBA elementary building project and community engagement while flagging conflict resolution and staff communication as growth areas — survey data showed only 60.2 percent of staff agree Bodwell provides leadership in addressing district challenges. A memorandum of agreement with the West Bridgewater Education Association was also approved unanimously.
