West Bridgewater School Committee rejects $1.14 million security plan, 0-5.
School Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
West Bridgewater School Committee rejects $1.14 million security plan, 0-5. Superintendent Bodwell presented a 71-page feasibility study recommending vestibule-style secure entries at the Roselle-McDonald and Spring Street elementary schools, but members Dragonetti, Lazzardi, Weech, Waller and Palmieri voted down a motion to forward the plan to the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee, preferring it go through the Capital Budget Committee first. Weech, reporting for the policy subcommittee on a separate matter, flagged that the district's alcohol-use policy currently "just says school committee can approve anyone and anything," a gap targeted for future tightening.
The board unanimously approved updated seclusion and restraint procedures, a late homeschooling request and Superintendent Bodwell's 2026-27 goals, then voted 5-0 to enter executive session over a union grievance and contract talks with Bodwell.
