School Committee · Meeting of August 24, 2026
West Bridgewater's School Committee rejected a motion to ban alcohol from school property entirely, then voted unanimously to send a narrower outdoor-only policy to its policy subcommittee. The ban failed 2-3, with Chair Robyn Dragonetti and Kara Lizardi in favor and Peregrine Wiech, John Waller and Lexi Palmieri opposed; the outdoor-only referral then passed 5-0. Palmieri argued residents without children in the district "paid" for the new school and should be able to use it, while Lizardi said she worried about "the examples that we set for the children." Superintendent Bodwell reported secure-entry construction estimates for the Roselle McDonald and Spring Street schools came in under $1.5 million.
The committee also accepted a fiscal year 2026 year-end budget of $18,590,895, a $19,022 surplus returned to the town as free cash.
