West Bridgewater School Building Committee selects "fold" design in 4-1 vote

WEST BRIDGEWATER — July 8, 2025 — West Bridgewater's School Building Committee voted 4-1 to advance the "fold" architectural scheme for the town's planned new K-6 school. The vote, taken at the July 8 meeting, narrows the field from two finalist designs — a curved-facade option and the chosen angular "fold" — with cost estimates targeted for September and a project budget and scope agreement with the Massachusetts School Building Authority due in October. Committee member David cast the lone dissenting vote, arguing that curved interior spaces would create higher long-term renovation costs despite assurances from the project team that up-front construction costs were comparable between the schemes. The committee also announced that project manager PMA and architect HMFH have agreed to conduct wetland delineation this summer, ahead of the MSBA's standard design-development timeline, and plan to brief the Conservation Commission the following week.
