West Bridgewater School Committee Adopts Remote Learning Policy, Eight Other District Policies

WEST BRIDGEWATER — February 3, 2025 — West Bridgewater School Committee adopts eight policies and a new remote learning plan at February meeting. The committee voted unanimously six times at its February 3 session, adopting policies on homebound instruction, homeschooling, alternative programs, summer school, instructional materials, and library resources, while also approving a remote learning emergency policy — new to the district's index — that allows the superintendent to declare a remote learning period subject to school committee approval. A homeschooling regulation, policy IHBG-R, was rescinded after its provisions were folded into the revised homeschooling policy. Superintendent Scott Vattel reported that the MSBA elementary school building project is still weighing a two- versus three-story design at the Roselle McDonald site, with a community forum tentatively scheduled for April 1 and a test fit of the Howard School showing it can accommodate grades 5 and 6, but only at the cost of specialist and library space. Following the repeal of the MCAS diploma mandate under Ballot Question 2, the district confirmed MCAS will continue to be administered for accountability purposes but will not be a graduation requirement, with a formal competency determination policy expected at the March 3 meeting.
