WEST BRIDGEWATER — The Board of Selectmen and Board of Water Commissioners agreed to form a joint committee drafting policies to combine the DPW director and water superintendent jobs. Selectman Jeffrey P. Ryan, DPW Director Phil, a water commissioner identified as Art, and Town Administrator David will make up the panel, due back July 15.
Selectman Marcie M. Lee said "I don't feel like there was a lot of oversight with the current superintendent, to be honest," pressing for clearer accountability over water department office staff. Selectman Michael A.
Perez called the restructuring "the right thing to do for the town right now" despite what members described as mixed signals from a recent Town Meeting vote on the proposal. Separately, the board ratified DPW laborers Tim Bean and Bruce VadeBunker, approved a three-year mutual aid inspection agreement with East Bridgewater, and voted to sign a quitclaim deed completing the Lincoln Street land swap.
