Select Board Approves Villeneuve Farms Beer License, Ratifies New Building Inspector

WEST BRIDGEWATER — March 5, 2025 — West Bridgewater Select Board approves beer garden license for Villeneuve Farms and ratifies new building inspector. The board voted 3-0 Wednesday to grant a wines and malt beverages license to Villeneuve Farms Enterprises, Inc., at 175 East Center Street, building on a successful 2024 pilot with Shovel Town Brewery, with the license pending site plan review and all required inspections. The board also ratified the employment contract of Nicholas Efraides, currently Building Commissioner in Norton, as the town's new Inspector of Buildings and Zoning Enforcement Officer effective March 24. In a wide-ranging budget session, Town Planner Tracy reported securing approximately $187,000 in net new grants this fiscal year while managing a prior-year portfolio exceeding $300,000; the Council on Aging reported 38,228 building visits in 2024, up 4,000 from the prior year. The board adopted new mobile food vendor and transient vendor permitting policies — raising the per-vendor visit cap from five to 10 annually to accommodate the summer concert series — and accepted the retirement of 27-year DPW employee Kent Berry, effective July 22, 2025.
