Conservation Commission Opens Hearing on Industrial Road Near Route 24, Orders Peer Review

WEST BRIDGEWATER — June 2, 2026 — West Bridgewater Conservation Commission opens first hearing on industrial road project near Route 24. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize a 53G independent peer review — paid by the applicant — and continued the matter to June 16 for the 0 Spring Street and 0 Manly Street Notice of Intent, filed by MJM Construction for a 42-acre industrially zoned parcel. Engineer Scott Daria of Homegrown Engineering described plans to reconstruct the existing 33-foot-wide Spring Street ancient way and build a new 800-foot industrial road called Horsepower Road, with a large detention basin at the cul-de-sac. A Spring Street section falls within the 50-foot no-disturbance wetland buffer, and the commission said it would require a buffer-zone replication or enhancement plan before granting any order of conditions. Residents of the abutting Pearl Road subdivision raised drainage, septic, and endangered-species concerns, including a recent sighting of a vulnerable bird in West Meadow Woods; the conservation agent said Natural Heritage review will be initiated. The commission also continued a Bryant Street subdivision hearing to July 21 after its engineer reported discovery of a previously unknown drainage pipe that could eliminate a prior 50-foot-buffer conflict, and continued 194 South Main Street to August 4 after the Zoning Board of Appeals rejected a warehouse use at that site.
