Conservation Commission Opens Hearing on 11-Lot Subdivision, Flags Buffer Zone Concerns

WEST BRIDGEWATER — February 3, 2026 — West Bridgewater Conservation Commission opens hearing on 11-lot subdivision while advancing two other commercial projects. The commission voted unanimously at its February 3 meeting to hire a Section 53G outside engineering reviewer and continue the public hearing for a proposed 11-lot residential subdivision at 0 Bryant Street to March 3, after engineer Scott Terry of Holmgren Engineering, representing developer Charlie Macy of CLM Development, presented a plan featuring a roughly 1,500-foot roadway off South Street, a 2,000-square-foot wetland crossing, and a 4,000-square-foot replication area. The conservation agent flagged at least two areas of grading encroachment within the 50-foot no-disturb buffer zone, the absence of a replication plan in the NOI package, and a detention basin outflow directed toward a neighboring property — whose owner attended and described standing water already reaching his basement. A proposed convenience store and fuel station at 506 West Center Street, in permitting for more than five years, was continued to February 17 after the commission declined to issue conditional approval before reviewing the applicant's final responses to consultant Pat Brennan's comments. The commission also authorized its conservation agent to consult with town counsel on enforcement options for a non-responsive property owner at 245 North Elm Street, where fines have accumulated to $2,800.
