Conservation Commission Approves Septic Repair Near Cleason Brook With Marker Condition

WEST BRIDGEWATER — January 7, 2025 — West Bridgewater Conservation Commission approved a septic repair at a constrained lot along Cleason Brook. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to issue a Negative 3 Determination for 479 West Street, authorizing repair and upgrade of a failing septic system within the 100-foot wetland buffer and riverfront area of Cleason Brook. Civil engineer Dave Clint of the Civil Engineering Group told the panel the original system likely failed because it was installed within the water table and that the replacement design would sit four feet above the water table while remaining essentially flat to grade. The sole condition of approval was installation of resource-area markers along the property's existing chain-link fence. The commission also referred a fill complaint involving asphalt chunks at the 29-lot Crescent Street subdivision to the Planning Board and Building Department for a review of fill specifications and potential compaction testing.
