Planning Board Continues 58 South Street Subdivision Hearing to May 7

WEST BRIDGEWATER — April 16, 2025 — West Bridgewater Planning Board delays vote on proposed two-lot subdivision at 58 South Street. The board voted unanimously at its April 16 meeting to continue the public hearing to May 7, after members raised unresolved questions about drainage at a low corner point on the proposed 16-foot-wide private way, to be called South Farm Lane, and insisted on waiting for a Conservation Commission ruling before acting. Engineer Scott Farrier of Homegrown Engineering, representing developer Charlie Macy of CLM Development, is seeking more than a dozen construction-standard waivers for the single-lot-access private road, including reduced pavement width, a hammerhead turnaround in lieu of a cul-de-sac, and no curbs or sidewalks. Referrals from the fire chief, police chief, and Board of Health raised no major objections, but the public works director requested additional plan details and the Conservation Commission has not yet reviewed the application. Member Jerry Stetson warned that a drainage low point near the road entrance "could ice up" in winter and said he was uncomfortable approving the layout before Conservation Commission action.
